IPDAS (Intellectual Property Data Automation Solution) is a patent prosecution automation platform developed by AutoDocs LLC for use by law firms and corporate intellectual property departments. The platform automates and connects workflows across the full patent prosecution lifecycle, from initial filing through final approval.

Key Features & Functions:

Patent Center Filing
IPDAS automates the USPTO Patent Center filing process, including automatic completion of Patent Center screens, PDF uploads directly from a connected document management system, Word-to-PDF conversion with formatting and compliance checks, and management of naming conventions and file size requirements. The platform handles all filing types, including large IDS submissions.

IDS Management
IPDAS provides centralized citation management across cases, families, and subject matter groups. All references — whether cited or pending — are recorded in one location and flow automatically to related cases and family members. The platform supports bulk import of references from spreadsheets, MS Word tables, PTO SB-08 forms, or USPTO databases, and enables automated retrieval of PDFs of foreign patents and translations from Espacenet. IDS documents and all associated PDFs can be uploaded to Patent Center in a single step.

Electronic File Wrapper (EFW)
The EFW module provides a centralized, customizable document hub for accessing and managing case files. Documents are organized across a configurable three-pane filing system covering correspondence, filings, and pending actions. Files are linked — not duplicated — across multiple cases, maintaining consistency and supporting complex workflows.

E-Office Action Intake
IPDAS automates the receipt and routing of e-Office Action documents from the USPTO, directing them to the appropriate team members.

IP Forms, Letters, and Emails
IPDAS provides a library of official USPTO and WIPO forms, letters, and emails, automatically populated with data from the IPDAS database. Forms can be prepared individually or in bulk, including PTO, PCT, and EPO documents and client correspondence.

Document Management System Integration
IPDAS integrates with major commercial DMS platforms, including iManage. Documents generated or imported through the platform are automatically profiled and saved according to firm-defined rules. An IPDAS-native DM option is available for firms without a commercial DMS. All documents are linked to their related cases in the Electronic File Wrapper.

Bulk Data Downloads
IPDAS supports processing of large volumes of patent data and documents in automated bulk operations, reducing manual data handling for high-volume IP practices.

Trademark Management
The platform extends its automation capabilities to trademark portfolio management, supporting firms that handle both patent and trademark matters.
